Welcome to The Errant Sock, a place where I hope you’ll find a few ideas which will save you time, stress and money to spend more time with the ones you love. Plus hopefully have a bit of a giggle.
So why read on?
If you’re looking for easy but original, family-friendly recipes, you’re in a good place! I’m an enthusiastic, have-a-go cook, but I like to keep things simple and low-faff, as well as down-right tasty! I’ll also be importing my slow-cooker recipes from a previous blog called Slow Cooked in Blighty.
I’ve had to cook around my son’s need for dairy-free and (for a while) egg-free food so I write about that too, including some useful recipes (how about some amazing cakes?) which work around food intolerances.
I love books with a passion, kids books, adult books and cook books (of which I have far too many) so I’ll be reviewing some of them!
My kids love to craft but I’m not a natural artist so any kids’ crafts here are for the distinctly craftphobic parent.
I love a good tip or hack so, whether it’s how to survive potty-training or how to reduce morning-time stress, I’ll be there, not as a parenting or organisational pro but as a learner and an experimenter. Think of me as your crash test Mummy!
I have two kiddos (Pigwig, 5 and Tintin, 3), 2 cats, a veeeeery patient husband and a house full of mess, creativity, books, music and laughter. We live in Cambridge, one of the most beautiful cities on the planet and are active members in our community and local church. (My other on-line home is a blog about “doing faith at home with kids” aka Laundry In The Temple – if you’re curious do head on over and take a look)! We have many family traditions, some of which are a little eccentric, such as our annual trip to a pig farm on our wedding anniversary.
When I’m not blogging, you can find me drinking coffee (real, please!), trying to resist Pinterest on my ‘phone, reading books and blogs, mentally decorating the Forever House, wishing I was a cowgirl and playing chicken with the laundry. Unfortunately it always seems to win, so if you were hoping to find out how to get on top of your laundry here, you are most definitely in the wrong place! Sorry about that.
I do hope you stay though. Kick off your shoes, pull up a chair at the kitchen table and make yourself at home. Happy reading!
